TOKYO, August 22, 2018 — Aptean, a leading global provider of mission-critical, industry-specific enterprise software solutions, now offers Aptean GenomeQuest, which provides a comprehensive view of biological sequences in the pharmaceutical, biotech, agrochemical and seed industries, to intellectual property professionals in Japan.

In conjunction with the product launch, Aptean Japan is offering a free trial of the product to potential users in that country.

Eighteen of the 20 largest pharmaceutical companies and the five top agrochemical companies in the United States and Europe use Aptean GenomeQuest to manage their IP assets. Users also include law firms, search firms and patent offices that perform IP searches to manage risk for clients and others.

Updated on a weekly basis, the GenomeQuest database, GQ-Pat, is the most comprehensive and up-to-date IP sequence database available. The GQ-Pat database includes more than 900,000 patent records and almost 400 million sequences records as of May 2018. Users provide one or more query sequences – DNA, RNA or protein – to a patent sequence search and can find all patents that contain those sequences, or sequences similar to them.

In addition to familiar sequence comparison algorithms, GenomeQuest offers the proprietary GenePAST algorithm, which is used by patent offices around the world. This algorithm is designed for percent identity calculations, critical in the construction of patent claims.

“With more than twice as many sequences indexed as our main competitors, users can be certain that their searches for DNA patents, RNA patents and protein patents is as comprehensive as possible,” said Daisuke Sawamura, managing director, Aptean Japan. “Aptean GenomeQuest is a powerful tool, and we believe IP professionals in Japan will find that it revolutionizes patent sequence search for them.”

In Aptean’s free trial, users can compare their current patent search tools and GenomeQuest side by side.
